A Year of Flowers

a foundation paper pieced Block of the Month featuring the birth flowers for each month.

A Year of Flowers is a foundation pieced quilt with one birth flower arriving straight to you every month throughout 2026. By the end of the year you will have a beautiful wreath of flowers.

Each month has its own flower - just like a birthstone. In fact some of these months have multiple flowers - I just chose my favourite ones to feature in this wreath. Each month's flower represents beautiful psotiive traits - something lovely to focus on as you sew!

The wreath of flowers makes a 30" block as a centrepiece. You'll also receive instructions on adding to the centre to create a beautiful wallhanging, or to add larger borders to create a throw quilt.

Additionally, each flower has been designed as a 5" x 10" rectangular pattern so you will have a collection of flowers to sew and love, as well as the patterns that create the wreath. This will give you lots of options and versatility!

So what's included?

  • two brand new patterns featuring the birth flower for you to  sew and love every month for twelve months
  • instructions on how to foundation paper piece (FPP) + a video for guidance
  • instructions to turn your flowers into a wallhanging or a throw quilt
  • an exclusive discount to the Quiet Play pattern shop
  • a fun community to share and talk all things rainbow and FPP
  • assembly instructions to turn your blocks into a wallhanging (34" square) or a throw sized quilt (50" x 60")
  • a bonus frame pattern to use for your flowers or fussycut fabrics!
  • handholding (the virtual kind!) to cheer you on and encourage you on your FPP journey!

Foundation paper piecing is my favourite technique, and I want to share my love of FPP and inspire you to make beautiful things! The patterns included are designed to be full of rainbow and geometric designs. I designed them to celebrate some of the little details we find in nature should we go for a little wander.

You'll receive two patterns each month. The flower wedge to create the wreath, AND a rectangular version. Use the rectangle version to add flowers to your next quilt, or make a few of the flowers to create a sweet cushion/pillow or mini quilt.

Here's what past Pattern Club members had to share:

A Quiet Play Pattern Club makes a FPP quilt so doable and fun . While the entire quilt may look daunting, it really is not with it being broken up by many months. Clear instructions and examples from other members help too! Highly recommend.

Kristy’s pattern clubs are such good value 💞 Her patterns are beautifully written and easy to follow. There are tutorials and detailed notes to help with colour placement or any trickier parts of any of the patterns, and Kristy is always willing & available to help in the Facebook group. Add to all this, Kristy always adds bonus blocks every month! I highly recommend the Pattern Clubs for anyone, whether you are experienced doing FPP or wanting to learn, Kristy will guide you through the process.

- Caroline

Quiet Play pattern clubs are full of wonderfully detailed blocks based on a theme. I like that we know what the pattern includes and we can see the finished quilt before we join. There are always additional alternative blocks shared, as well as, blocks from the archive. The Facebook group is full of other club members sharing their sewn blocks and completed quilts from current and past pattern clubs. I love to see all the variety fabric selection brings to each block and completed quilt!

- PeggySue

I really loved being part of this club. As somewhat a beginner with FPP, I found the instructions and patterns very easy to follow. I also love that I didn't feel like I needed to do them in any order. I will certainly do another!

BONUS!
When you join A Year of Flowers, you'll also get this bonus oval frame pattern!

It's foundation paper pieced and comes in three different sizes.
The largest size is perfect to match with your rectangular flower blocks to frame it for a beautiful design.

This would make a lovely mini quilt or cushion/pillow to celebrate a loved ones birthay!

Kristy / Quiet Play

I'm Kristy - I'm a mama, maker and designer. While I enjoy quilting, I love to foundation piece. There's just something about those perfect points and crisp angles. I've been designing FPP patterns since 2012 and love to fill them with rainbow and geometric shapes. I want to share my love of foundation piecing with you, encourage you to make the patterns your own, and to build your skills and share your love of sewing!
